OTHER FRIENDS NEWS

For those of you bringing your dog or cat, we now have a qualified pet sitter in the Elgin area. Her name is Holly Krause and her phone number is 541-786-4542. The cost is $10 per trip, per pet. If you plan to ride the train please call in advance to reserve a spot for your pet.

CABOOSE:

The board of directors is researching the cost and parameters for fixing up the caboose that is at the boarding site in Wallowa. We were loaned the caboose by Ron Petersen of Portland and moved it to Wallowa with the idea of restoring it to either use on the track behind the train or turn it into the ticket booth and gift shop. There are lots of ideas on what to do with it and we are narrowing the choices and seeing just what the owner will allow and how that affects the Friends. If you would like to help, want to donate to the project, or have ideas of your own, please contact a Friend's board member. More on this later.

BOARDING PLATFORM:

Our thanks to the Elgin Edge group for building the boarding platform in Elgin. Materials were furnished by WURA and the Edge group organized the project and built the platform.
